Victorian-era Police Constable

RESOURCES

Proper utilization of available resources is a vital necessity when it involvesEast Sussex Constabulary Helmet Platecollecting. Trying to build up and maintain a collection without reliance on resources is like trying to drive through a foreign country without a map! This thesis applies to collecting almost anything ... stamps, coins, antiques, even rocks; it is especially true if one is collecting British police memorabilia.

How do you tell the difference between a cap badge and a helmet plate? How do the materials of which it's constructed help determine a helmet's age? What is a horse brass? Why are some badges shiny chrome and others a dull silver? How do you date a whistle? What is a tipstaff? ...The bad news is that the list of questions is endless; the good news is that there are available resources to find answers for all the questions!

Hopefully, the buttons at the bottom of this page will prove to be useful resources in your search for information about British police memorabilia, history, true crime, etc......
