THE CONSTABULARIES OF
SHERLOCK HOLMES' TIME

It was the phenomena of the Ripper Centennial following immediately behind the Holmes Centennial that made me realize that I was one of many who share a common interest. Many years ago, while studying the London of Holmes and Watson, I developed an appreciation for the British Police that continues today. Naturally, anyone who pursues an interest in the "Peelers" also develops a thirst for the greatest `whodunit' of all time .... the Ripper Murders! Early in 1988 I discovered that many of the Sherlockianssp1x.jpg - 13386 Bytes with whom I had corresponded or read about during the Holmes Centennial were now writing about `Saucy Jack' and his centennial. After conferring with several acquaintances it was decided that a forum or clearinghouse was long overdue for Sherlockians who were also Ripperologists or British Police enthusiasts. Thus, THE CONSTABULARY was formed as an official Sherlockian scion society.

The purpose or goal of this page will be to return to the original "mission" or purpose of THE CONSTABULARY when it was formed in 1988. There will be no formal membership, but persons interested in British Police history and cases occurring during Sherlock Holmes' time are welcome to use this page accordingly. Uploads of interesting articles, stories, papers, photos, etc. will be solicited via E-Mail and then made available by direct download from this page. Please note that space forbids the publishing of all submitted material, and, all material will be subject to editing.
